CONCEPT OF DESIGN:

Many styles of seat lifts are out on the market today and provide great help to those in need of aid standing up out of their seat to become mobile. For a great ammount of people, just the act of standing up is the one thing that limits their ability to move around on their own two feet. Available devices, that aid people with this action, are very sturdy and powerful yet extremely large, heavy, and expensive. The concept's goal was to create a device that is portable and relatively inexpensive. In order to do this, personal fabrication of as many parts possible is ideal.  Only two components of this device will not be fabricated, instead purchased, which will reduce design costs as well as obtain capablities from proven functional parts. In addition to less than one quarter of a cubic foot of aluminum, the two parts purchased to complete the materials needed include; one 1996 Audi A4 scissor jack, and one portable battery charged Dewalt hand drill.

(Original design called for a 90 degree bevel gear box which became too expensive for the desired price range)
